Today, we announce the release of File Find 1.2, this update introduces many changes, all of them listed on the "Downloads" page. Under these there are many speed improvements, one of them has to do with the caching. File Find uses it's own caching algorithm. Scanning results are stored and reused for a faster search. Now this cache gets cleared every two hours on default. You can also clear the cache manually. In the new version File Find also considers the cache from previous searches in a parent directory. So for example, if you search in /Users/admin/Downloads
the cache from a previous search in /Users/admin
will also be used. This brings great speed gains, as it is very time consuming to scan the entire file system. It gets more time consuminf, the more individual files and folders you have. The size doesn't matter.
It is now also possible to mark individual files by just pressing M
. They will then appear green.
Other big speed improvements were achieved when comparing searches and when building the UI.
